A pseudo-study on the ethics and motivations behind artificial creatures and their captivity.
I would like to preface this by saying that this is in no way an article that will 100% be reliable.
This is all mostly speculation, as every company and such that has created or has asked to create such creatures does not want to give out any information about said creatures.
If anyone involved in the creation of these beings wants to help me write a more reliable article, you can contact me via email.
As many of you may know, some companies have recently been creating (or asking other companies to create) artificial beings, to keep for their own purposes, be it money or something else entirely.
The most known case of this is Cafeterree, which is assumed to be the first company to ever pull this off, and their creation "Radio".
Since I have a few friends that work / have previously worked there, I was able to get some information that, to my knowledge, nobody else has, and I feel as if I have to tell the world about this by writing this article.
As it turns out, Radio is simply a nickname for the creature. Its official name, according to everyone I know that has worked there, is Signalsender. Now I have no clue why a company would hide this information from the public, but there definitely has to be a reason behind it.
After asking around for a while longer I was able to also figure out that they (Cafeterree) were NOT the ones to originally create Radio, but they asked another unrelated company to create it for them. I have no idea about what company they have asked, but to my knowledge Cafeterree has spent around $400.000 to have Radio created and then to keep it.
Cafeterree has been using Radio for their own purposes, specifically for monetary gain, as many people want to see and talk to the creature.
The employees do know how messed up of an idea this is, and they know that they are holding a sentient creature captive for their own gains.
What do they do about it, though? Nothing. Nothing has been done, at least to my knowledge, to stop Cafeterree from holding Radio captive.
As it turns out, this is not the reason why they're moving from their original place. All of it seems to simply be a way to avoid legal trouble and such.
It seems like because Radio has recently become more aggressive, which has resulted in it hurting whoever visited the place, they're moving out of there as fast as they can, simply to avoid having to get rid of Radio.
The other companies most definitely have it better than Cafeterree. From what I know, and from what I have been able to see, the other companies have been treating these sorts of beings way better, yet they still do hold said beings in a sort of captivity, despite it being way better than Cafeterree.
Giving the creatures rooms does not justify keeping them in captivity instead of letting them live how they should, and I do get they aren't human, but they are still sentient. They are capable of thought and they are capable of feeling emotions.
Getting them used to captivity will not make them live well. Training them to simply stay in their place no matter what is not a good idea at all, whether you "own" the being or not.
